After the ceremony, cocktails took place on the lower lawn while a string quartet played modern songs. “We thought it would be a fun Easter egg for our younger guests to hear Kendrick Lamar and Drake playing strings,” Corinne says. After the cocktails, guests moved to the backyard, which had been transformed into the reception. “My dad has had many parties at his house over the years, but this was the best,” Corinne says. “I’ve never seen a transformation like this. No other wedding venue we could find could top the look of our reception.”
Near the end of the ceremony, Pastor Michael asked guests to make community vows, then performed a rose exchange. “He gave each of us a rose and asked us to exchange them,” Corinne said. “During this exchange, he told us that the first gift of marriage is a gift that represents purity, beauty, and unity. Instead of ‘husband and wife,’ Pastor Michael declared us ‘a team,’ which we loved.” The newlyweds then walked back down the aisle to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” as guests danced and clapped to the beat.
Since Corinne and Joe are getting married on September 21, they felt the need to be introduced to Earth Wind and Fire's "September." "It was an absolute must," Corinne said. "We followed our big debut with our first dance. Over the years, I've turned Joe into a Swiftie. We even went on the Eras Tour together and I made him dress up and wear friendship bracelets. So our first dance was 'Lover' by Taylor Swift." Then, Corinne's close friends and dad gave their speeches. "My dad did an impromptu 22-minute speech," Corinne said. "It was a comedy special and half a speech — everyone was rolling off their chairs laughing." They then did their father-daughter dance to a song Jamie wrote for Corinne called "Heaven." “I always knew we would dance to ‘Heaven’ together at my wedding,” Corinne said. “It’s a very special song to us.”
