Cabello, who released her album C, XOXO this summer, certainly had her fair share of shows and designers to experiment with. She visited shows for labels like Miu Miu, Vetements, and Rabanne to try on her PFW looks. “C, XOXO’s creative direction is the driving force behind all of my looks this season, so it was great to experiment with the album aesthetic through the eyes of these different designers,” says Cabello (who also walked the runway for the star-studded L’Oreal Paris show). At Rabanne, for example, she wore one of the label’s signature chain-linked dresses. “I love how it has a more rugged element and a more feminine element at the same time,” she says. “The hardness of the metal mixed with the softness of the silhouette and the floral details. I like to play with that balance with my looks.”
At Vetements, she went for a more avant-garde look, complete with a black ski mask. “We saw the Vetements ski mask at the fitting and knew we had to spend some time with it, because the hood is a huge part of the look for my album,” Cabello says. “I loved how sexy and bold it was—it was like a C, XOXO moment that was elevated to high fashion!” Meanwhile, for Miu Miu, Cabello went more classic with a schoolgirl sweater and skirt. “I think my Miu Miu look is closest to my personal style,” Cabello says. “It feels very comfortable, easy, and chic. I feel like I’m really myself.”
Of course, part of the fun of attending PFW is treating the week like a high-fashion playground. Cabello says she feels pressure to look perfect front row—but she sees it as a fun challenge to experiment with her wardrobe. “The pressure is more positive than negative,” she says. “We always want to find ways to look interesting and excite our fans. Fashion Week is also a really great time to show our versatility and try a bunch of different new ideas.”
